| The Bowood Farms Nursery
will be incorporated into 3 attached commercial
buildings in the Central West End. 4621 Olive Street
will be transformed into a retail garden shop while
the adjoining two structures will house an open-air
plant nursery within the walls of the existing buildings.
A cafe will be incorporated into the front of the
middle building and serve the nursery and the public.
The project is being designed
as a destination point featuring a central street
side cafe with a terrace overlooking the plant
displays. A high loggia surrounds the open-air
displays with an upper gallery beneath a green
roof. The cafe itself contains a bar and seating
area with 14' ceilings and views to the plant
displays through a green screen archway. The inside
seating area is around 860 SF with an outdoor
terraced seating area of 1,200 SF.
The 5,416 SF retail shop consists
of a large open space naturally daylit by large
factory sash windows and a light lantern sitting
atop a bow trussed ceiling vault. A low terrace
penetrates the retail area from the adjacent cafe.
At the back of the shop is a 1,236 SF office mezzanine
above a lower storage area. |
