Ford Calumet Environmental Center
|
The
Environmental Center is to be used as a regional
hub for research, programming and stewardship
of the Calumet Area. In conjunction with its
function as an interpretive center, it will
house flexible indoor and outdoor spaces for
a variety of programs and exhibits.
Site
and building development are to follow Zero
Impact Development Guidelines, meet a LEED™
Platinum rating, and be a model of green architecture
in material’s usage, innovative systems,
site and climate interaction. It will expand
the cultural identity of the Calumet Area from
its earlier residential use, later industrial
conversion, and finally to its current ecological
destination for cultural tourism and civic pride.
