Project Info:
The internationally renowned Missouri Botanical Garden hired Hellmuth+Bicknese to facilitate a charrette and create a conceptual design for an interpretive sustainability home which will showcase green features that visitors could incorporate into their own homes. The approximately 1,800 SF building was planned to be located on the MBG grounds adjacent to the Kemper Center for Home Gardening, the largest non-profit gardening resource of its kind in the country. The project addresses proper siting, stormwater management, water-efficient & working landscaping, as well as energy efficiency, indoor air quality and materials selection. The entire project would serve as an educational tool for visitors.
